05:28 PM ET 02.15 | There's a lot of talk around the Cleveland Browns about getting a better quarterback than Brandon Weeden -- but the question is, how? Weeden didn't have a great rookie season: sure, he completed 57.4 percent of his passes, a decent number, but he threw 17 interceptions against just 14 touchdowns. That's why Jason La Canfora of CBS said the team wants to upgrade from Weeden and National Football Post reported that the team was looking into a trade.

who would want him?

Plenty of teams would like to develop him....he has a strong arm and can make just about any throw. So he had 17 picks to 14 TD'S?? He was a rookie! Want to list how some of the great QB's had similar issues their rookie season?
I don't think Browns will seriously deal him, McCoy is more likely a casualty because of his lack of arm strength and the Browns wanting to have a verticle offense. So they may very well get a better QB with experience, but I believe they will hang on to Weedon to be a back-up where he can learn. His biggest issue last season IMO is that he made a lot of the SAME mistakes. So we'll see if he makes a leap during off-season. Some players get better as the season goes on, others make leaps during the off-seasons.
Just have to see.

Terrible pick last year and I think just about everyone knew it except the Brown's management. When you pick a +/- 30 year old player coming out of college he's got to perform day one. There's no time to wait for him to develope because he's coming up on retirement age for many in the NFL. Wasn't he a first rounder as well? What were they thinking? Maybe take a chance in the 4th round or something.

As a starter? Nobody. But he has intriguing possibility as a career backup, like Frank Reich or Earl Morrall going way back. At his age and life experience, his head is most likely already out of his butt and he could be a guy who steps in 2-3 games every season when you're superstar QB is nursing his injuries and keep the ship sailing.
With all these teams starting guys like TJ Yates and that guy in Chicago two years ago in the playoffs, wouldn't they rather have a mature professional who can step in and at least manage the game without crapping all over themselves? I miss guys like Reich would could win you 2-3 games a year and not rush Kelly back before he was ready. Maybe Weeden becomes someone like that.

Brandon Weeden should be the starting QB in 2013. Nobody in the draft seems to be the immediate answer and I'm not sold on Alex Smith as a long term answer. I think he will learn from 2012 and Norv Turner will help. Hopefully we can pick up a veteran WR and Gordon and Little will step up even more. We can't keep pulling the plug after one year.

Good upside analysis. Clearly you are a "the glass is half-full" kind of a guy. But, don't the Browns have a history of throwing the baby out with the bath water?
