11:30 AM ET 02.16 | The NHL continues to push for realignment that would place the Wild in a geographically tighter division with such regional rivals as the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues, a plan that would be implemented next season. A similar proposal passed by the NHL board of directors in December 2011 was shot down by the NHL Players Association, but that impasse could be resolved soon, according to Wild owner Craig Leipold. "I'm under the belief that we are very, very close to getting it settled for next year," Leipold said Thursday, Feb. 14. Leipold is a major proponent of a measure that would install Minnesota into a division not dissimilar to the NHL's old Norris Division, one that should foster rivalries, improve TV audience numbers and cut travel expenses.

The Stars need to be part of this move... although I don't suspect Minnesota would be interested in that.

And so should the Blue Jackets. They belong in the Eastern Conference instead of the Winnipeg Jets.

Yo, Minny, just WIN and you'll see that to fan it doesn't matter whether you play regional rivals or a high school girl's team.

These regional teams you want to be so close to are all better than you.

You're kidding, right? They'd love to play the Leafs and the Sabres 25 times a year!

No worries there! We let the Habs and Rangers take care of the Bruins.

I thought Chicago and Detroit wanted to be in the Eastern conf? But you cant out Minn in the east that would be absurd.

I think they're going to send the Blue Jackets your way instead. They've been easy pickings till now but, that might be changing too.

It ain't happening. The Jackets will swap places with the Jets and, that's it. There might be some minor tinkering within the Conferences as well and nothing more.

I'm just going to wait and see what they really do.....and who moves where.

Makes since for Detroit, they're in the EST zone. Chicago and Minn are not.

I thought the plan for realignment was as follows:

Colorado to the Pacific

Winnipeg to the Northwest

Dallas to the Central

Columbus to the Southeast
