Myck Kabongo avoids questions after Texas debut

11:38 AM ET 02.16 | No Texas player handles the ball better than Myck Kabongo. The offense actually resembles a structured attack now that the starting sophomore point guard is back from a 23-game suspension following an NCAA violation. He directs his teammates with an ease and confidence that can't help but make us all wonder what could have been, had he not missed all but eight scheduled games of this regular season. Kabongo has tremendous handles when it comes to dribbling and passing but he hasn't handled his off-the-court situation with the same skill. In short, he's bumbled this thing from the start. Once he was reinstated for Wednesday's double-overtime win over Iowa State, I thought we would finally get to ask Kabongo about his mindset during what's been the worst season of Rick Barnes' tenure. I was sadly mistaken. "It's not about me so I am not going to take any questions. It's all about the team," he said before walking out. That's where he doesn't get it. Innocent or not, he made it about himself when he accepted an improper benefit before the season. He made it about himself when he lied to the UT compliance office during its investigation. Now, even if it's unintentional, he's still making about himself by not providing the answers that the media and fans have long wanted to hear.

LOL a player says "it's not about me ... it's all about the team" and the journalist accuses him of being self-centered because he doesn't answer the journalist's questions.

Only in America. I'm all for a free press, but no one is obligated to speak to the media.
