10:07 AM ET 02.17 | With the Rockets' retooling exceeding his expectations, owner Leslie Alexander said he will not let the contract of general manager Daryl Morey expire after next season. Though he typically has not worked on one contract until the previous deal is complete, Alexander said he intends to re-sign Morey. "His contract is up next year, I believe," Alexander said on Saturday. "We'll re-up him. Daryl knows that I judge him all the time. I've told him. He's not shy about it, either. He just knows that's the way I operate. Why wouldn't I? The general manager is the one person in your organization you can really judge. He can make good moves or bad moves. This year, I think he's made three terrific moves." Alexander said the decision to trade for James Harden, along with the moves to acquire the pieces that set up that deal and the free-agent additions of Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik convinced him to keep Morey.

He deserves it. What looked to be a lottery year for Houston turned out to be a chance make the post-season with some good talent.

All 3 signings have worked out great!!! If he can swing something to get Howard, he can get the life time achievement award!!!!

This guy is getting to much credit. They are better than everyone thought, so what? There a middle if the pack team.no more no less.

QUOTE(#4):

The Houston GM definitely displayed some ambition and fortitude to get these trades done, but they are also flawed.First of all, all 3 of these acquisitions are overpaid. Yes, they are worth a lot to help the Rockets rebuild quickly, but the Rockets paid handsomely for them. Second, Lin and Harden are both guards that need the ball in their hands. It would have been more balanced to obtain a guard, a forward, and the center Asik instead of two ball-handling guards together with Asik. Later in the future, they may end up trading Lin or Harden.

I agree but I don't see anyone taking on Lins contract!!

They are still a long way from being even close to the Olajuwon lead Rockets in the 90's. With teams like the Thunder and Clippers in the same conference they will remain bridesmaids.

Beats the cellar, right?

what you can not read? i guess you can't fix stupid, kobe and wade might have the the better overall work then harden in their careers, but this year harden has the better stats. exept for maybe scoring but that isn't by much well he is ahead of wade but not kobe in that category.

Perhaps Golden State would, they have a strong Asian community fan base.
