10:58 AM ET 02.17 | Florida State took the trophy home from the 2012 ACC championship game in December. It also brought back debt. According to the school's income statement from the game, obtained by Warchant.com via public records request, Florida State lost more than $478,000 from its participation in the ACC championship in Charlotte, N.C., on Dec. 1. About $440,000 of FSU's loss stems from dismal ticket sales for its matchup against 6-6 Georgia Tech. The league announced that 64,778 tickets were distributed, but Bank of America Stadium never reached half-capacity during FSU's 21-15 win. It was the first time in the game's three years in Charlotte that it wasn't labeled a sellout.

Remember this ACC: No VT fans = No sell out.

Notre Dame would fill your seats, but even if the Irish beat every ACC team on its schedule there will still be no invite.

Since when does/did Notre Dame showed any interest in joining a Football conference??

Did you forget about the deal where ND will begin playing five ACC teams each football season?
I think that's what Van Man was referring to.

LOL, I looked at the ND's football schedule for 2014, 2015 and 2016 and I didn't see a ACC football team on any year!!! :-)

I take that back!!! ND is scheduled to play Wake Forest and BC in 2015, Miami and BC in 2016 and Miami in 2017, but that is not "five" ACC football teams in any given year???? :-)

Yes I agree!!!! Could you imagine if they ever cancelled that rivalary???

The attendance I have seen does not match the statement that it has been a sellout every year for last 3 years.

I blame Georgia Tech and their silly run-based, multiple RB "option" offense and their QB who isn't a better passer than most HS QB's. And their 6-6 record, of course.
Nobody wants to see that crap.

Unfortunately for ND, beating the ACC bottom feeders does not get you an invite to anything. Schedule Clemson and FSU, then we'll talk.

True. As an FSU fan, even I was bored with that game.

Unless VT fans want to come and watch FSU play someone other than VT for the ACC crown, then there aren't going to BE any VT fans at the ACC CG, til they put Beamer out to pasture.

You can blamed the FSU athletic department for some of the lost knowing in advance that the game was not even close to a sellout. Instead of going on a commercial flight maybe a commercial bus ride and staying in a cheaper hotel could have save you a lot of money.

Did you even bother reading the article? It states that, of the $478k lost, $440k was from TICKET SALES! And how the hell do you know HOW they got there, or WHERE they stayed?
Perhaps you should spend less time worrying about FSU, and more time worrying about the gathering storm in Oxford.

Seems there should have been guaranteed money for the teams to participate in this game. If so, judge what extras you take to the game based on the money available.
That championship game was as bad as the majority of the bowl games this past season. Good teams against 50-50 teams or losing teams is not what the public wants to see. Championship game was as bad as most of the bowl games. ND needs to get a lot better if they will ever win a championship. Can't get there because you are ND and expect to win the title. Their great linebacker whom writers thought should have won the Heisman was not in the game. Oh he was on the field but was nothing of a factor.
