07:33 PM ET 02.17 | Corey Crawford is day-to-day with an upper body injury. He's been placed on IR until further notice and newly acquired Henrik Karlsson has been recalled from Rockford to back up Ray Emery against the San Jose Sharks. It was announced Thursday that Ray Emery would get his first home start in next Friday night against the Sharks, and today it was revealed that Crawford did not feel well after practice on Thursday and he would be out for Friday's game. Head coach Joel Quenneville did not go into detail about Crawford's injury and said that he may be out for the Blackhawks' afternoon game against the LA Kings on Sunday. Crawford has played well so far this season, and his improved goaltending is a huge factor in the Blackhawks' 10-0-3 record. But Emery is more than capable to take his place, playing the best game of his career in Calgary earlier this month. Hopefully Crawford's injury is nothing serious and the Blackhawks will get back their goaltending duo that's brimming with confidence right now.

All depends on the symptoms are handled and whether or not he will not suffer Post Concussion Syndrome that has plagued many these past few years. It's a sad state of affairs, but like you say, concussions are a tricky business to contend with.

I was at the game, everyone was looking for blood after he finally uncurled from the fetal position and got up, seeing none, assumed ribs or nuggets. I'm surprised he didn't leave his breakfast there on the ice.

Brent might be singing in the soprano section for a while though.
BTW, why do they keep calling it "the midsection?" Call a spade a spade.
