08:01 AM ET 02.18 | At the very least, Austin Collie appreciated that Jim Irsay, Ryan Grigson and Chuck Pagano let him know in person that he will not be re-signed next month. "I'm playing," he said Saturday afternoon in an interview with The Star. "Right now, it would take a doctor to tell me, 'You can't play anymore.' I feel like this is a gift that I've been given, and personally I feel I should still be doing it. That's just me." ... [One young fan] asked the obvious question: "Where will you play this year?" "I honestly don't know," Collie replied, slowly shaking his head. Playing again is his motivation. So is regaining the form he flashed during the first six games of 2010.

I'm not a doctor, and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I'm telling you.

"You can't play anymore."

No. Just no. Somebody really needs to step up and protect this kid from himself.

The kid has the passion and right attitude, may he be given a chance to finish his NFL career on his own terms.

Another concussion could finish his NFL career on terms nobody wants. It's why he was cut, and why he should not be signed by anyone else.

"I honestly don't know," Collie replied, slowly shaking his head, causing yet another concussion.

The fact he was shaking his head "yes" didn't help clear up matters, either

So he's "defiantly" going to play or "definitely?"

He has to pass a physical for any team that signs him regardless.

To be honest, the last few times I watched Collie play I spent the whole time cringing and peeking through one eye after hard hits to make sure he got up. And he did, but usually slowly and with that "life is like a box of chocolates" look in his eyes. It just felt like any moment it was going to be the end of his career.
