Tannehill recruiting Moore for return

08:03 AM ET 02.18 | Matt Moore has played 37 games since his 2007, including a 16-touchdown season in 2011 -- and while he threw for only 131 yards this past season, he still may have options on the open market. Several Dolphins people, including Ryan Tannehill, have reached out to [Moore], hoping he will re-sign. Keep in mind that Cleveland offensive coordinator Norv Turner is a big fan of Moore, who will test free agency to see if there's a starting job available in a situation that's appealing to him. But he hasn't ruled out coming back to Miami. Kyle Orton earns -- on average -- $3.5 million per year to back up Tony Romo in Dallas, so quality backup quarterbacks like Moore aren't cheap.

Matt Moore may not be an "elite" quarterback, but he is probably better than some guys starting in the NFL right now.

Agreed, he'd be a good get for any team and if Miami keeps him they'd be in pretty good shape at QB. Not all teams can say that.

3.5 million is alot for a backup...until your starter gets hurt and then it is cheap.

I can only think of KC + Ariz as being spots where he walk right in and Start... Maybe Cleveland.

Not ideal choices.

Oakland? Jets? Minnesota?

Y'know, if you read books about picking stocks and building a successful portfolio, one of the things they always say is not to get "sentimental" about a stock. When it's time, it's time. It's not a relationship. It's just a stock.

The same goes for quarterbacks.

Thats the problem in Philly, we'd have to have a QB before we can dump him.
