Parker: Kobe wanted LeBron one-on-one

08:07 AM ET 02.18 | On the occasion of Michael Jordan's 50th birthday, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James duked it out in the All-Star Game. [Jordan] surely would have enjoyed seeing Bryant block James twice in the final two-plus minutes of a close game. ... Bryant's value was apparent when the East sliced a double-digit West lead to three points with 4:24 remaining. During a timeout shortly before, the Lakers star had asked West coach Gregg Popovich, who's a huge fan of defense, if he could defend James one-on-one. "He was talking during the timeout he wanted to take him one-on-one," said Spurs point guard Tony Parker, "and he did a pretty good job." Bryant scored only nine points but enjoyed the challenge of guarding James.

Too bad they won't meet up in a game that counts. Would you want him one-on-one then, Kobe?

Surely you suffer astigmatism. The only things Kobe can beat Lebron doing is ball hoggin', team killing, and playing fake defense.
I found Jordan's passive aggressive comments about Kobe being better because of rings hilarious.
Given that if rings are the only thing that Kobe has done better than Lebron, and Jordan has out done them both in that category. All Jordan was saying is that he is better than both of them.
Yet he doesn't think Horry is better than him, when Horry has 7. Jordan fully knows that rings are a team accomplishment, yet he uses it to measure Kobe and Lebron when Lebron is the ultimate team player. Make no mistake about it. Lebron is better than both of them. Only time will tell.

Good comment, but in your opinion, what makes you think that Lebron is any better than Jordan, Kobe or even Magic Johnson??? Lebron might be better in the "long run", but at this stage of his career, James is not better than even Kobe!!!!

No offense but I would trust Jordan's assessment over yours. It's said that he has broken down both Lebron's and Kobe's game so he knows the strengths and weaknesses of both. The ring comparison is pretty silly but that doesn't change the fact that Kobe, over his career, is the better player. I am not talking about now of course.

Though I respect what Jordan and Kobe can do as individuals on the court they both had two lucky situations in their careers.
MJ played in the NBA when there was no real defensive talent to challenge him. The best defender of his NBA era (Pippen) played right next to him. The next best player was Dumars. Who would Dumars stop in today's NBA. NOBODY!
Kobe played with Shaq in his prime. So everything Kobe has prior to Shaq leaving LA was because of Shaq. How good are you really when your not even the best player on your own team for the first half of your entire career?
Lebron is better than Jordan because of how he plays the game. He really makes his team mates better and this is why I think he is better. Not rings, not points, not MVPs. It is how you play the game that counts.
Any of these players can play well when paired with another HOF player who also is in their prime. See Shaq and Pippen.
Lebron just got a player around him like that. Lets see how he does.

It's an All-Star for goodness sakes. Everyone knows you don't really play defense in this type of game. Kobe was desperate for a few mins in the limelight. Lakers lost both their games against the Heat in real game situations.
