One catcher taking charge for Red Sox

08:11 AM ET 02.18 | In the crowded house that is the catcher position in Fort Myers, one name has stepped up quickly. It hasn't taken David Ross long to take control behind the plate. The catcher, who was signed to a two-year deal over the winter, was firm and vocal while catching Jon Lester Sunday, offering tips on mechanics during the outing, then huddling with Lester to go over some issues after the outing. "He's an encouraging catcher," said Farrell. "Just talking to guys who have thrown to him, there's been such positive feedback on the interactions that they've had, either after a bullpen or while they're actually throwing a pen and David's comments in between pitches. He encourages every guy that he catches. I think pitchers feel that connection."
