08:19 AM ET 02.18 | Buffalo will open the week looking up at much of the NHL, both in standing and in momentum. At the end of the day, even the optimists and pessimists came to a consensus. The Buffalo Sabres' glass was empty. ... This one ate at [Ryan Miller]. The goaltender unleashed several profanities after the Sabres fell to 3-4-1 in First Niagara Center. In every regulation loss, the game was tied during the third period. "We're neither competent enough nor experienced enough with the lead in the third period," Miller said. "That burned us. It's not acceptable. It's 3-3, get to overtime. It's 3-2, [expletive] make them come all the way down. We worked too hard." They did work hard. ... "But in the end we still have zero points," defenseman Christian Ehrhoff said.

Some Sabres are dull. Others have no edge at all. Ryan Miller stood on his head and did everything he could to win this game. I feel his pain.

Could you be more of a whiny beotch Ryan?

The only real offense I've seen from the sabres this season is in Vanek... the rest are just numbers on a page. Buffalo have spent a lot of dough and have very little to show for it. I can't disagree with Miller, but there had tobe a better way to vent his frustrations.

Problem with Miller is he always comes off as a whiner. It's going to get to the place that the rest of the team doesn't even want to play in front of him if it's not getting there now

Sounds like a man who reached the end of his endurance. He played a heckova game, made some outstanding saves and gave up the game winner when his defenceman screened him. Those cross ice passes that got slammed in must be hard to take too.

Credit to the Pens where it's due too, they hung tough, and it was a half decent game to watch, but you're right the GWG would've been a hard one to swallow for any goalie worth their salt.

I disagree about Miller whining. He comes off as the only player on that team that gives a d.
Was that last year when he got run and his teammates did nothing? They've got some serious issues over there.

I'm thinking that was the reason they did nothing....my bet is he's not that well liked in the room. This kind of crying about other guys on the team does nothing to make it better either.

Heat of the moment and all....things get said....maybe he wishes he hadn't said what he did, but you can't really disagree with his assessment of things.

That may be true but he's earned the right.
This whole "Win the cup" attitude is about 10 years too late, the Drury/Briere days of being a good team have long since passed.

And they aren't likely to arrive any time soon either.

Not that I have an issue with that.... Sabres fans are a hot mess even when they are winning...

Regier and Ruff have to go. This team has no identity. Not tough enough. Not skilled enough. Not gritty enough. Ruff's voice has long gone stale, and Regier has had way too long and enough rope to get this ship going again.

They've stretched the taffy pretty thin, who else has had such a long run at a losing enterprise?

February 18, 2013  03:22 PM ET

Could we say he's trying to rattle some Sabres?
