Coach: Wings are 'taking on water'

08:21 AM ET 02.18 | Small slumps in a typical season mean bigger trouble during this shortened campaign, and the Red Wings are looking at a three-game winless streak after Sunday's loss in Minnesota. [The Red Wings] are making mistakes (turnovers and bad decisions) that are leading to easy goals. And in two of the past three games, they have failed to take advantage of a goaltender making his second NHL appearance. "These three games, we made huge mistakes to give them goals. That can't happen," Babcock said. "We know how to play better than that, so we got to stick to it for 60 minutes. You have to win and get points in this league or you lose sight of everything in a hurry. Right now, we're taking on water."

Coach, you may not have noticed but, the Red Wings left port with a half flooded hull.

The D and puck movement on this team is the worst I've ever seen...they just plain stink up the place lately

Being out here on the left coast I usually don't get as many Wings games as I'd like.
It might be a blessing this year. :-(

It's sad to see the end of an era to any franchise, the 'Wings had a good run with the vets they had, now they need new blood, and it seems it's not yet forthcoming, this sort of reminds me of the Penguins in the early 2000's right up until they got Crosby, Malkin, and Jordan Staal, it might be a couple of seasons of heartache for Detroit, and then perhaps a return, but it all depends on 2 things.... The Draft and Trades....

The Wings are too good of an organization to stay down too long. It might take a year or two, but they'll be back.

That would be my thinking, they are a well managed Hockey Club on a downswing. as long as they completely implode, they will be back.

Like Mickey Redmond said the Wings have played over 30 players so far this season, with that many in and out especially on D you can't get it together so easily.

Good things you can still watch a good team like the Leafs once or twice a week.

It is. But this season will determine the next step, especially with Howard UFA, the amnesty, and the highly, highly moveable and desirable assets they have.

Yes bless HNIC and The To***to Sports Network other wise I'd never get to the Leafs celebrating the Cup win.......from 1963. WTF's with that? Not to be insensitive but they'd better win one soon or they'll be digging these guys up for anymore "celebrations."

LOL - And WTF would a To***to fan know about that?

I get to see the Canadiens almost every time they play if I put my mind to it. Love RDS.
Loved seeing them thump Philly.....

See Rask, Seguin, and Hamilton, for starters.
If you would like to delve farther back in time, I can go back to a certain 4-time Cup champ d-man.

Would you rather have watched Jersey/NYI on Saturday? Or was it the Montreal game you were itching to see?
But yeah, i've been whining about the dumb "celebrations" and "honourings" for years now. How many times they gonna drag poor Johnny out onto the ice in front of an arena of people, most of whom couldn't even write their own name when they won these Cups.

You can watch most any hockey game you want these days if you put your mind to it.
Why do the Habs play so good against everybody but the Leafs? I mean that Philly game was never even close. Then again, neither was the Leafs game vs Philly earlier in the week.

6-7-8-9 spot with them being bounced in the 1st round if they do happen to make it.

I'll give you Rask although he wasn't prized at the time. And Seguin and Hamilton were never Leaf assests thanks to the Prince of Irkness.
Go back to? Are you infected with ACC fond memories of yesteryear?
