02:12 PM ET 02.18 | Despite how often Tony Romo has been mentioned by members of the Cowboys staff and in the media, the two sides have yet to begin discussing the terms of a contract extension, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com. Romo and the Cowboys suspended contract talks during the 2012 season to keep it from becoming a distraction, but they have yet to resume negotiations. Romo is scheduled to earn a base salary of $11.5 million in 2013, the last year of his current contract.

Tony has the Cowboys by the short hairs. And he knows it. What are they going to do? cut him, and next year they have to tag him to keep him? tony, think it through, don't answer that phone.

Tony, Tony, Tony, why do make me look to find a reason to tell the offensive line not to block, on a blitzing play, Sign The Dam Contract!

You got Tony all wrong, given an OL and a Good Coach who knows what he's doing and a guy like Armad Bradshaw or a Reggie Bush on third down plays, you'd be surprised at what he can accomplish!

I'm not sure anything can stop JJ from signing Romo to a 10-year extension

Does anyone have any better ideas? Anything? Simple fact is I don't see a better option in the draft or on the free agent market. Not even anyone who might be available for trade. Sorry but this is as good as it gets for now. Remember the Bernie Kosar, Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson days. Don't forget the other forgettables, Steve Pelluer, Gary Hogaboom, Clint Longley, Jerry Rhome, Kevin Sweeney........the list goes on.

Let him play out the last year. If they finally get over the hump and into the playoffs, he can get a big payday. If not, they have the option to franchise him or look at what next year's draft class has to offer.

8-8 is not a losing season.

And where were the Giants, defending champs, at during the post season? Elite Eli didn't get a team with a much better OLine, defense, and supposedly, coaching, any further than Romo went.

Does Romo play linebacker or safety? You are aware that last years team gave up the most yards in team history, right? Tom Brady and Peyton Manning would have suffered behind that putrid OLine and complete lack of a running game. Say what you want about Romo, but he is the reason this was an 8-8 team rather than 5-11.

Troy called and said you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Aikman has stated publicly that Romo is better than he was, he just hasn't been fortunate enough to have the same surrounding cast.

Keep Romo but draft Matt Barkley in the 2nd round.

we've had so many horrible QBs since aikman that we've forgotten what a real QB is so when romo comes along we hang on to him for dear life. it's sad really... most teams would have made a QB change by now, but most teams don't have JJ making every move.
there are other options to try out there.... flynn, smith and a few others. but we will die with romo and i'm sure he will get his 5 yr extension. but i'd bet the ranch when he's done with this team and retires, we will all look back and see that his career was nothing but some good stats... maybe record setting. but minimal playoff wins and NEVER close to a SB game.
and besides some impressive stats... romo will forever be remembered as just another pelluer, hogaboom, etc.
