08:18 AM ET 02.19 | In advance of a showdown with Michigan State, Tom Crean aired a grievance that centered on the Mitten State's sweeping the weekly Big Ten awards on Monday. Crean had a testy exchange with Big Ten call moderator and assistant director of communications Dan Mihalik on the subject during [Monday] morning's conference call: Crean: "Dan, I have a question for you. Can you give me the criteria, so I can understand this once and for all, what the criteria is for the player of the week, what you're judging that on?" Mihalik: "I can give that to you off line." Crean: "Just give me this: Where does winning fit into it?" Mihalik: "It's part of the criteria." TC: "Just part of the criteria? OK, that helps me. Thanks." Crean then brought it up again at the end of the call.

The point he was making (badly) was how can a player from TSUN be awarded the player of the week award, when his team was blown out on national tv?

QUOTE(#5):

Question...does the Leaders/Legends tag apply to basketball? I never hear it mentioned

I think the divisions only apply to football. That may change with the addition of Rutgers and Maryland. It is up to each sport to decide if they are best served by a divisional split of the conference. One area of interest is men's hockey. Penn State now has a team, giving the B1G enought teams to qualify as a seperate hockey league. The requirement from the NCAA is at least half of a conferences schools must play the sport to be recognized. Penn State made six hockey schools in the B1G,and they immediately announced their intention to form a B1G hockey league. Now we need seven teams. Does Rutgers have a hockey team?

Just looked it up. No they don't. The only other solution that I see is to have Nebraska take over the UNO team. That would be messy, but not as bad as the other teams all trying to find homes for their hockey teams.

Sounds like North Carolina maybe next to the B1G.

Story starting to break that they have an offer to join.

Then who . . . rumors were Virginia or Georgia Tech.
