11:22 AM ET 02.19 | Calgary Flames defenseman Mark Giordano will have a meeting with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Tuesday evening. The meeting is directly related to an incident in the team's game against the Dallas Stars on Sunday night when Giordano slew-footed Antoine Roussel. Occurring at the 11:53 mark of the second period, Giordano was assessed a two-minute minor for tripping on the play. While Giordano will have a hearing, it seems unlikely that the league will suspend him. In reality, it seems much more likely that they will administer a hefty fine. Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the NHL needs to call a hearing in order to fine a player in excess of $5,000.

Until they start cracking down for real on this stuff...(Matt Cooke should be suspended for the season) it's going to keep happening.
