Mathieu Darche hangs up the skates, literally

12:46 PM ET 02.20 | After 250 career NHL games with five different NHL teams, Mathieu Darche has officially announced his retirement from the NHL. The veteran, who signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets as an undrafted free agent in 2000, tweeted a picture on Tuesday of his skates literally being hung up for good. Darche finishes his career with 30 goals, 42 assists and 58 penalty minutes, enjoyed most of his success with the Montreal Canadiens.

Kid made alot out of limited talent and a tiny body.

His bro was a long-snapper, he left med school to play long-snapper in the NFL. He went to a super bowl with the Seahawks, and he also retired. He went back to complete his studies to be a doctor.
The media in Montreal really appreciate Darche's intelligence and I heard on a number of occasions through the lock-out that Darche would probably move into a role with the NHLPA once he retires.

After only 250 games in almost 13 years, those must be some pretty lightly used skates.
