04:16 PM ET 02.20 | The Anaheim Ducks have extended the contract of goaltender Viktor Fasth, according to an announcement on the team's website. Fasth was set to become an unrestricted-free agent at the conclusion of the year. Currently playing under a one-year contract with a pro-rated salary of $1 million, Fasth has received a considerable raise earning a two-year, $5.8 million extension. According to reports, Fasth will receive $2.4 million next season and $3.4 million the year after that. The extension is somewhat surprising given that Fasth has only played in nine games with the Ducks. it also raises questions about what the future holds for Jonas Hiller.

Nine games. A little early, no?

Hiller's on the books for 1 more season..so maybe they're thinking of keeping them both...teams do need a legit tandem these days.

Better now than if he goes 15-0 and worth more $. This Ducks team is that good (they kept winning with Hiller letting in 4-5 goals a game).

Fasth is the real deal. This is a good deal for him and Anaheim. In today's NHL you can never have enough goaltending.

Sometimes makes people nervous when he's way out of his crease to cut off the angle with traffic around the net, but picks his spots wisely.

Fasth thinking. Let's see if it all works in their favour.

Looking less and less like Perry n Getz are leaving town.

Nice! Another underestimated goalie a la Niemi? Or.........

He's good, bro. TRUST. Dominated the same league Lundqvist came from.

And it's only 2 years. A safe bet. Hiller is not the Duck's future. He's mediocrity.
