05:52 AM ET 02.21 | Had Mike Tannenbaum been around, he'd likely have made the same moves for the Jets over the past week. Now the question is, what's next? The Jets are approximately $5.7 million under the cap (that number is fluctuating because the cap amount hasn't been set), and they will create more room before the start of the league year on March 12. [New GM John Idzik] has moved past the no-brainer stage of his offseason. Up next on his agenda: 1. He will make a decision on backup QB Tim Tebow ($2.6 million base salary). The Jets will try to shop him at this week's scouting combine. The first day they can trade him is March 12, so they might keep him until then with the hope that they can swing a deal. Chances are, no one will bite, so they'll end up releasing him.

Shopped for what???

February 21, 2013  06:25 AM ET

Maybe someone will give the Jets a 7th rounder for Tebow???

February 21, 2013  06:29 AM ET

Just as long as he isn't run over by a combine.

February 21, 2013  07:12 AM ET

They should have packaged him with Bart Scott for a waterboy.

February 21, 2013  07:14 AM ET

Tebow's mind is set on being a QB. That is what will keep other teams away.

I bet Denver whised they had him in that Overtime against the Ravens, all they had to do was move the chains for a field goal!!!!!

There's always a fool in the crowd...

And - someone just might, ewa.

They should bring Tebow to the Combine, put a mask on him and say his name is Nnnmandikong Kowalski. Show a clip of Johnny Depp as Tonto saying "Who was that masked man?" and see if anybody is interested.

If he keeps that mindset, which he probably will, his "career" in the NFL will end quickly. Long odds any teams want a) a Quarterback who can't throw. b) the drama that follows Tebow.

The drama is more about the New York Buttfumblers than it is about Tebow.

Then the Jets will use that pick to get that kicker chick. They need Rex to have another foot fetish incident. Who better than a chick kicker?

The combine is at the dollar store ?

As long as Sanchez is still their QQ they need to make Buttfumblers their nickname!

Yes there are! And, there are a few places where Tebow would actually be an upgrade.

The good thing is, he'll still land on his feet.

Honestly, he could probably make more money as a Pastor, instead of the NFL.

Seriously, they could trade him to Miami for Matt Moore. It would give the Jets a real backup who could challenge (and likely replace) Sanchez, and Miami would get a guy who could come in on third-and-short situations, or run trick plays out of punt formations like he did with the Jets.

The guy has value. But, he needs to be on a team that can exploit it.

Exactly what isle would you find a mid 20's QB with poor throwing mechanics who runs like a full back?

You've got to go to one of those little old-fashioned hardware stores for that. You know the places, wood plank floors, low ceiling, poor lighting and a million little drawers with stuff in them. And, the guy who runs the place knows what's in every single drawer and can take you right to it.

The clowns they hire for retail in most stores wouldn't be able to find Albert Haynseworth.

He would do more good being a pastor that is for sure. Get him a mega-church.

He will be released. And that is that.
