12:01 PM ET 02.21 | New York Jets personal punt protector and Bible aficionado Tim Tebow was set to speak at a controversial Texas church. The news of Tebow's upcoming appearance was starting to bring some backlash his way and it appears that he has finally caught wind of some of the awful words from the First Baptist Church of Dallas leader. Among the controversial opinions that were voiced, the leader of the church slammed homosexuality and called Catholicism "a Babylonian mystery religion" that ruined the church. Thankfully, Tebow has wised up and will no longer speak at the church on April 28 because of "new information that has been brought to my attention." Tebow announced his decision in a series of tweets to his over two million followers. You can read Tebow's statement at FanSided.com.

Reminds me of Obama and Jeremiah Wright. I don't think those two can throw a football, either.

Sounds like the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas only reads the Old Testament ignoring the New.

I think he only looks at the pictures. Reading might be a bit of a stretch for that good old boy.

Thankfully, Tebow has wised up and will no longer speak at the church on April 28 because of "new information that has been brought to my attention. I will address the wonderful congregation of the Westboro Baptist Church instead."
