03:06 PM ET 02.21 | When Asante Samuel left the New England Patriots for a big contract with the Philadelphia Eagles five years ago, his former teammate, wide receiver Wes Welker, suggested that Samuel was choosing "money over championships." Now, Welker is set to hit free agency on March 12 and Samuel has a little advice for the eight-year veteran from an interview with FOX Sports Radio. "He made a comment when I left saying I chased the money and not the championship," Samuel said. "Here's my advice to you, Welker: You better chase the money, brother.

Samuel makes a good point. They both won the same amount of rings in the last 5 years (0) so yeah, chase the dollars. Although if Brady made a slightly better throw and Welker could've hung on Vs. Giants, he'd have a ring.

If you chase the money you know you'll get it. Championships.... maybe not

It's a business for the owners, and a job for the players.
Both are chasing the money, but sometimes sentiment gets involved.
But not with Bill Belichick, and Pats players have to think of the money elsewhere before taking a hometown contract and then Bill trades them or cuts them.

Get that Ring, Money comes to Champions after they retire, you got a shot as an analyst Samuel has a shot at making pretzels in Philadelphia! No one will remember him!

If Samuel held on to that gimme interception near the end of the 2008 SB, he'd have a ring too.

The owners only care about tow things, money, and winning, and these players need to realize that before it is to late in some cases before their career are over.

We do spend a lot of time talking about a guy who A) has never one jack doodly, B) has dropped, depending on your definition, the two most important passes ever thrown to him, and C) will instantly and immediately become a third option, 50 catch - 620 yard third down receiver the moment he leaves the warmth of Bill and Tom's cozy crib.

never WON...not 'one'.

That was a bad pass in the, pass was supposed be thrown to his right was thrown to his left, even if he catches it, he's not in the end zone, he's 25 Yards short!

It would have been a great catch. But, if he catches it the Pats run out the clock.

If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle. Welker has been Brady's go to guy and if the Pats aren't willing to keep him for that reason alone I'm not sure what message they are sending Tom

I'd say Samuel laid it out there nice and neat. Wes chases the money, he's a hypocrit.... Lesson learned here: keep your mouth shut Welker, no one realy cares to hear your gums flap.
