04:52 PM ET 02.21 | Philadelphia Flyers forward Matt Read sustained an injury in Thursday night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins when forward Chris Kunitz connected on a first period hit. During the second period, general manager Paul Holmgren announced that Read had suffered an upper-body injury and would not be able to return to the game. As of Thursday afternoon, the Flyers have yet to announce what Read's status for that night's game against the Florida Panthers. In two games against the Panthers this season, Read has scored four goals, which is the most points by any Flyer against the club this season.

Whoever he is, it looks like Philly missed him last night. That was ooogly.

They shot their wad the night before against the Pens. Now, they need a whole week to recover.

He's out 6 weeks with a rib injury. Looking worse and worse for the Flyers this season.

Heard you get Hartnell back in a week or so. Maybe all is not lost?

As if that will make any difference.

Well, I hope not. But been down the team injury road, so I sympathize...even if it is the Flyers.

Hartnell is like Sampson, cuts his hair and he turns into a girl... One wonders if he got his hair cut on his sojourn.

Flyer's fans will settle for a ****.

He's a Flyers winger with 7G, 6A, which would put him second on the Wings in goals scored and third for points.

It's ok to acknowledge your secret Hartnell crush. No one here will judge :)

Let me tell you... if I had to pick, under pressure of torture, Hartnell would be at the BOTTOM of my list. If I had to pick a Flyer, how about that hot Sean Couturier? Nothing like a man with some missing fronts!! ;)

arent 4 of his goals against Florida?

That is totally unfair for the Flyers. They have to play the Panthers the next day after a fast paced. physical game against the Penguins. Meanwhile the Panthers had two days off. They should not be allowed to schedule games like that.

I must have missed something here. Flyers beat the Pens on WEDNESDAY. Didn't realize they dressed and played as the Florida Panthers last night to earn the Doubleheader split...

Oh, whatever. Totally FAIR! ;)

I dont know; but if Homer cuts Lavi loose that will be a major crime. Homer should be gone already; Bring BB to the City of Brotherly Love. First off, there's liquor stores in Delaware just over the Pa state line that open at 8 a.m. Secondly, he would at least find a scoring winger for Claude Giroux.

I really feel bad for these guys.

Yep. I'm beginning to form a conspiracy. The Panthers made a deal with the Penguins to take out Read so he wasn't available last night. It's just a matter of time before we see how the Panthers pay back the Pens.
