Da'Quan Bowers may not have to go to prison

07:16 PM ET 02.21 | The latest update on Buccaneers defensive end Da'Quan Bowers provides a bit of a silver lining on the dark cloud surrounding his arrest on a felony gun charge. His lawyer released a statement today stating that he is confident that Bowers will be cleared of this charge, and while this is something you'd expect from a lawyer worth his paycheck, he might have good reason for his confidence. The Tampa Bay Times' Stephen Holder released an update on the situation today and profiled the lucky breaks that will benefit Bowers in his attempt to clear his name. The premise of the article is that the jurisdiction of the arrest is different than the one that ruled over the case of Plaxico Burress. The future is looking brighter for Bowers, but let us not forget he is facing a felony gun charge, and had to post bail to avoid a stay in jail. He is not out of the woods, but I certainly wish him nothing but the best. He seems to have made an honest mistake, and hopefully the justice system allows for forgiveness of the young Buccaneer defender.

Actor Christian Slater was arrested when he tried to board a commercial plane with a gun in his luggage. He was sentenced to community service. I expect the same thing to happen for Da'Quan.

This writer is delusional.... "He seems to have made an honest mistake, and hopefully the justice system allows for forgiveness of the young Buccaneer defender."
Him trying to take a loaded gun on an airplane is an honest mistake? If he really is that stupid and irresponsible there is no way he should own a gun, let alone carry a loaded one. We really don't need more gun laws, use the ones on the books and lock this clown up for a long time.

Great job Roger Goodell--- What a way to set the bar and "clean up the NFL" like you said... you are such a spineless coward... keep lowering the bar Moron.... you need to have character yourself before you can push it on someone else--

Da'Quan should go to jail just for the name.

Of course he is not going to jail. He is a professional athlete who can afford to pay an attorney to find some **** loophole and keep him out. The law isn't equal for all of us. Just sayin.
