Why Heat has no interest in Jermaine O'Neal

07:18 AM ET 02.22 | Though the Heat would consider adding a player to replace Dexter Pittman if the perfect fit becomes available, there's nobody Miami's targeting at the moment. They had no interest in Kenyon Martin (who signed with the Knicks tonight). And Jermaine O'Neal, who might get a Phoenix buyout, was considered high-maintanance during his stint here and isn't a Heat target. The Heat decided there was more potential with Jarvis Varnado than Pittman, whose option likely would not have been picked up this summer anyway.

They don't need another body, no one is gonna stop them in a 7-game series.

I think they should have just kept Pittman as insurance.

QUOTE(#2):

They needed the right big.Birdman is fine cause he can move.....All these other stiffs are either too short for what they do on defense or too slow

You are right...and there was a reason Miami got JO the 1st time (expiring deal to enable them to make a run at LBJ, Wade and Bosh).

There is also a reason why they let him go...bad knees, bad attitude.

He is NOT needed in Miami and I would vomit if he got a spot on the bench and then a ring to boot off of everyone else.

Birdman is doing just fine and by the time the playoffs roll around, he will be able to body up people for about 20-25m per night without worry.

while the guy can't play anymore you can't blame him for hanging on if teams are still stupid enough to pay him for doing nothing more than getting injured. ever since he signed his first big deal with the Pacers he has been injury prone yet teams trip over themselves to sign him to ridiculous contracts whenever they get a chance to.

The Heat do need one more big guy but not Jermaine O'Neal. Plus hasn't he played with Miami recently?

The Heat need to scour the waiver wire and pick up a guy that suits their style. Whoever that may be.

Cause he's old and can't play any more?
