03:22 PM ET 02.22 | The Atlanta Falcons are likely to release Michael Turner, their leading running back this past season, instead of pay him the $6.9 million he's owed next year.
Turner had 800 yards and 10 touchdowns on 222 carries in 2012. He was backed up by Jacquizz Rodgers, who gained 362 yards on 94 carries. Matt Ryan was the guiding force that got the Falcons to the NFC Championship game, but Turner able to assert himself on the ground.
The 31-year-old has been to the Pro Bowl twice, and had recorded double-digit touchdowns in each of his five years with the Falcons.
