04:05 PM ET 02.22 | The New York Islanders have placed goaltender Rick DiPietro on waivers with the intention of assigning him to the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Following the completion of the process, the team plans to recall 22-year-old goaltender Kevin Poulin. DiPietro has played in three games this season and has assembled a .855 save percentage and 4.09 goals against average. The 31-year-old goaltender is in the seventh year of a 15-year, $67.5 million contract that carries a $4.5 million annual average value against the salary cap. Injuries have been a constant in his career and he has played in only 50 games over the course of the last five seasons.
