04:09 PM ET 02.22 | Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson addressed the media for the first time since sustaining a lacerated Achilles Tendon last Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Karlsson stated that he is doing well since undergoing surgery and has spent most of his time watching golf. In addition, he says he plans to return to full health and expects to play like he did prior to the injury. However, the note worthy part of his press conference came when he stated that he believes Matt Cooke intended to injure him on the play. Karlsson said that Cooke has targeted him in the past and he believes he was trying to hurt him. Despite this, Karlsson does not believe that Cooke meant to lacerate his achilles.

This sentiment has been shared many times before, but why is Matt Cooke still in the league. Can't Stand that man!!!!!!! The Sens are an exciting team w/ Karlsson.

Like I said at the time, run him through the boards, elbows to the noggin', cheap shots with the stick, yes and highly likely. All things found in the history of hockey.

Slicing a guy with his skate? Higly unlikely.

Even Don Cherry on Coach's Corner that weekend, who literally had a run in with Cooke a year or 2 ago under the stands off camera and exchanged many heated words, says no way Cooke did that on purpose.

And Don cannot stand Cooke.

I agree, it wasn't on purpose, but like I said at the time due to Cooke's history in the league many won't give him the benefit of the doubt now, his reputation precedes everything he does on the ice. Comes with the territory of being a perennial cheap-shot artist.

Really. He was hit from behind so unless Cooke said How'd that feel baby, I concur, accident.

Back in the day I bumped into a few chicks at the bar half loaded and was tempted to say that but didn't want to spend the next hour looking for the contacts she would have slapped off my face.

No one dislikes Cooke more than me (and every other Boston/Savard fan) but this was an accident, plain and simple. This is why we shouldn't let kids hold press conferences.

Horse hooey.

Like I said at the time.

Huge difference between being a cheap shot artist and a guy who slices guys with his skate.

Horse hooey? Lol, oh Hankala, it appears your rabid hatred of all things Canucks clouded your ability to understand I was actually in agreement with you on the Cooke/Karlsson incident. Pretty funny, I guess it doesn't really matter what I post because I get the feeling you react to my Johnny Canuck logo in the same way a raging bull reacts to a red cape being waved at him, haha ...
