04:33 PM ET 02.22 | The St. Louis Blues have placed rookie forward Vladimir Tarasenko on injured reserve on Friday afternoon, according to an announcement by general manager Doug Armstrong. Tarasenko sustained a punishing blow to the head on Wednesday night when the Blues faced the Colorado Avalanche. He was forced to leave the game and was unable to return. According to head coach Ken Hitchcock, Tarasenko has a mild concussion and a cut from the hit. In 17 games this season, the 21-year-old rookie has compiled six goals and six assists for 12 points. In addition to announcing Tarasenko, the Blues also recalled forward Chris Porter from the AHL.

Good player. Hope he's not gone too long.

I agree kinger...... this kid is pretty good from what I've seen of him. Hope that he doesn't end up being fragile. I didn't see the hit so don't know what caused the concussion.

As long as the Stars don't have to see him again anytime soon...

Yes there are, Sarge... And I'm happy to say that the Stars have a couple of them.

Wish one was a goalie, though... and another D-Man.

Agreed. This Russian is impressive. Even though he's not like Semin, he's got plenty of it.

Doesn't sound like they think he'll be out very long. After tonight, the Blues are off until Thursday, so I think they wanted to use that opportunity to give him some time off after the hit. Sounds like they think he could play Thursday.

His eyes were rolling up into the back of his head as he struggled to pick himself up from the ice.
