08:45 AM ET 02.23 | According to several accounts, talk between Danny Ainge and the Clippers continued right up until the final hours yesterday. Kevin Garnett said during All-Star weekend that he would not waive his no-trade clause, and held true to his vow despite added pressure from Clippers guard Chris Paul. According to a league source, Paul called Garnett and said that if he was open to joining the Clippers, then Paul would make it happen. Garnett, though, declined, expressing a desire to remain a Celtic. Ainge's wish list had been topped by the Clippers' young duo of guard Eric Bledsoe and center DeAndre Jordan. The Clips, with an eye on trading part of the future for a deep playoff run now, focused their attention on Garnett. But Garnett reportedly said no, to the relief of an entire Celtics locker room.

Kudos to Garnett for being true to his word. Had he joined the Clips, much better chance at a title this year.

What do they think they are going to get for him after his contract is up?

QUOTE(#5):

This just shows that CP3 is trying to compete with the best team possible. He's a winner and he reached out to another winner.

Guess we will see how Jordan and Bledsoe feel about that.

Well according to both ESPN and Stephen A Smith yesterday, this entire article is complete fabrication. According to Smith on First Take @ 3:30 pm yesterday, he received an on air phone call from CP3 and was told emphatically by Paul that the only conversation between him and Garnett took place on all star weekend when both of their children were interacting and it had absolutely nothing to do with KG coming to the Clippers. Celtics fans please, don't go self absorbing yourselves with this idea that the Clippers enforced Paul to try to convince KG to come to Clippersland. You're just kidding yourselves, KG is trying cement his legacy as a Celtic so he can go into the Hall as one, nothing more. Tell me this though Celtics fans exactly what championship are the C's gonne win with KG and who are they going to defeat to get it?...........Thought so, shutty.............Apple and I'm out!

Damage control!!

He was not going to leave unless PP was moved- he said that way early onPlus - getting an overpaid useless center and a back up small combo guard (whom boston already has) is not nearly enough value for KG who, though old, is still a difference maker

The problem is, he's not a big enough difference-maker to carry the C's to a title this year, and next year he'll be worthless (if he even plays.) So trading him for ANY sort of youth made sense.

LOL.......a difference maker?

If he's such a difference maker:
-
1. Why are the Celtics BARELY a .500 team?
-
2. Why can't he score more points OR grab more rebounds than Carlos Boozer?
-
I mean......SERIOUSLY!
