Knicks coach rips Carmelo Anthony for passing on drives

10:21 AM ET 02.23 | The Knicks' free-fall continued Friday night, with Mike Woodson annoyed at Carmelo Anthony for passing up two scoring chances with the game on the line. "No game is easy for us the way we're playing right now," Woodson said after the Knicks fell to the Toronto Raptors for the second time in nine days, 100-98, their season-high fourth loss in a row and fifth in six games. "We've got to figure out how to get a win to get off the slide and start feeling good about ourselves." Two nights after an embarrassing 34-point loss at Indiana, the Knicks' problem Friday night wasn't effort but execution, especially in the final minute. The Knicks missed three of their last four shots and Tyson Chandler bricked a critical free throw with 21.4 seconds left. But Woodson was more annoyed that Anthony, the team's best player, wasn't selfish enough on two crucial possessions in the last 54 seconds. "He got rid of it too soon," Woodson said of Anthony's pass to Felton. "When he caught it he had an opportunity to drive it right away to the rim and he let it go. Same way he let it go to Tyson, the same way. But Tyson ended up getting a foul but missed one of the free throws. I mean, we had our chances, so I can't complain about that. We've just got to be smarter."

"We've just got to be smarter."

A bit younger would help, too.

Mighty Raptors suffocating defence

You damn right!

Really starting to like how Jonas is playing alongside Amir.

I said early on that the Knicks would come back to earth and they now they are. Unless they make lots of three pointers in any given a game then they struggle

Get back to your defensive mindset, Knicks! That's your way forward.

That's the key. Melo's getting the LeBron treatment. Don't make the pass ... embrace being the star. Are we now going to say he's afraid to shoot in the clutch. LOL. No matter what these guys do they get criticized. Of course if he is going to be selfish and misses, then the criticism will be about his ball hogging, lack of trust in his teammates, etc

... come on woody

I think you say these things on purpose.

This is APPLE!...................I hope you fools now recognize whatta idiot Woodson is. Day 1(yesterday) he rips JR, his second leading scorer at 16pts a clip. He acted like he don't know what he has in Smith. Day 2(today) he rips his best scorer and the one guy who's been mostly single handedly carrying his team all year long. Now I watched the game completely and here's what I saw (somehow Woody missed this) in the final minutes. First bum **** Stat promptly goes to the free throw line and missed a critical free throw that could have tied the game if makes both. OBTW his buster **** is getting paid 20 mil to make them. Second you then have Chandler go and repeat this feat seconds later. Third you have Chandler then let pint size Lowery come in the lane and tear drop his buster **** for the lead. Fourth you have Felton take a very ill advise three (this is Woody should have been angered at) particularly when his shot has been ghost for the last several games. Fifth you have Melo grabbing the miss by Felton's bum **** missed shot and try to bail his **** out and tied the game cause no one else was doing anything except for Smith. Six the Knicks blew you another game to the lowly Raptors. After listing all this events in the exact order, how can this fool criticize Melo, the only guy who shows up to play in what seems like nightly. Woody, Shutty you moron. Apple and I'm out!

Think you are being a little too critical about Chandler at the end of the game with his F/T's.
You shouldn't expect a 63% f/t shooter to bail your team out at the end.

As for Channdler "letting" Lawry get that floater; it was a tough guard by Tyson, but a better shot by Kyle.

But MOST OF ALL, the "lowly Raptors" (7 of last 10 I believe) whooped NY twice so far, and went into Indiana and beat the Pacers...all since Rudy Gay arrived

I think you are not giving this new Toronto team enough credit... but I'm not surprised.

The Raptors will be a team to be reckon with. Your new coach is doing a great job. That Carlisle coaching tree is working really well. Your team is very athletic and young and the addition of veteran Rudy Gay will help the team a lot. You just need a low post center now and maybe next season they will add that... As for the Knicks, they're going downhill. Age is going to bite them big time. Woodson is right on telling Melo to attack instead of pass. The only time he should pass at end of games is when there is an open player for a dunk or an open 3...

I think Toronto's low post center is developing well now with rookie Jonas Valanchunous (think I spelled it right). Gray is a mediocre back up center but I like that he is very physical and doesn't shy away from any player.

I wouldn't flush the future down the toilet with NY, personally.
You have one of the best players in the league, and a decent group of guys around him.

...Knicks could be awesome if they just had one more big signing like a Dwight Howard.
