08:05 AM ET 02.24 | Former Nevada coach and father of the Pistol formation Chris Ault came to the combine on the advice of PSR agents Bob LaMonte and Matt Baldwin in order to spread his gospel. "They are going to introduce me around to different teams and people," Ault told me. "It's a chance to meet people, talk some football." Many should want to talk with Ault because he understands the Pistol and the read option as well as anyone. At the very least, he would be a logical consultant for NFL teams. "If there is something I can do to help people football wise, I'd like to keep my hands in it," said Ault, who stepped down as Nevada coach after the season. "I do think the pistol is on the cutting edge of what you can do in the NFL."

It was thought that Greg Roman ( 49ers Offensive Coordinator ) would be hired as some teams Head Coach and Ault would move into the offensive coordinator position, he may be hired by the 49ers as a consultant. Because no NFL team was trying hire Ault while he was in college, I think his retirement caught teams off guard and they haven't had time to think about if they would like to hire him. I think that he will be hired by the 49ers so he can be reunited with and work with the QB ( Colin Kaepernick ) that made the " Pistol " famous. After a season or two as an offensive assistant Ault will make more of a name for himself and then he can think of being a NFL Head Coach.
