Could Brad Richards' slow start lead to amnesty buyout?

08:26 AM ET 02.24 | Let's freely acknowledge this is a case of premature speculation. But in this shortened season when the decision-making process is necessarily accelerated and moves leading up to the April 3 trade deadline will be impacted by the decrease in next year's cap from $70.2 million to $64.3 million, it would be derelict not to at least raise the issue of Brad Richards' difficult first month in conjunction with the amnesty buyout option the Rangers will confront following the season. There is every chance Richards, who has struggled in essentially every aspect thus far and most notably in pace, will find his game along the way and render the issue moot. There is every chance Richards, whose confidence is shaken if not shot, will regain the swagger that has disappeared in his game (and in his team's as well, by the way).

doesnt help when you face off against Price twice in one week (unless youre a Leaf, I suppose).

Torts has got to be feeling the heat. Despite all of his benching and temper tantrums the Rags are not responding. Do you fire the team or the coach?

i have been pretty dead set against any coaching firings this season...but I would be incredinly surprised if Torts lasts the season. I wouldnt blame them for firing him.

You can redeem yourself on the 27th.

After Shanny gave time off to Zetterberg, a virtual boy scout, last year for his hit, I expect anything anymore.

didnt get to watch the game.

if thats suspendable then pretty much half the players in the league should be sitting at home. pretty soft. and mcdonaugh got exactly what he deserved for acting like hockey is a non contact sport.

Torts takes some good drugs. His team is underperforming and he wants to deflect attention by asking stupid questions that having nothing to do with anything. I dont know if theres a coach that has more excuses than Torts. He will throw any number of his players infront of an oncoming train under the guise of trying to get em fired up...and then any time one of his boys gets hurt for any reason its always the dirtiest play of the year.

The act is fine when you win...but its incredibly irritating when the team plays like ****.

bruins shouldnt have any difficulty retaking the top spot...but in the interim Im enjoying the ride.

I think it's a case where the players have had enough of Three Fingers antics.
