09:21 AM ET 02.24 | Andrew Bynum practiced Friday with the Philadelphia 76ers for the first time since they traded for him last August. But instead of it being a positive moment, it only seemed to depress coach Doug Collins. Speaking before the 76ers hosted the Miami Heat on Saturday night, Collins said Bynum's brief 5-on-5 workout only showed how far away he is from being able to play, and hinted at just what a lost season this has been for the team. Bynum Bynum "He looked like a guy who hadn't played in nine months," Collins said. "I don't think any bells and whistles should be sent off that he's close to playing." Bynum has been giving weekly updates on the condition of his knees, though he's often offered contradictory information. His return date from bone bruises in both knees has constantly been pushed back.

Yeah, he pretty much has. No sense in coming back now, other than just to try the knee and see how it holds up.

I doubt there will be a big market for him since he has missed all season so far...

With the lack of big men in the league, especially decent ones, even if he doesn't play in a single game I suspect there will still be a fairly large demand for him.

why so dour collins ?the guy is practicing, how about some positive energy- how about saying...." it was great to finally have him practicing"or "for a guy out this long- he looked good"I guess now we know why he's a terrible coach

Or how about, "it was great to seem him finally playing in a lane, other than the bowling lane where he reinjured him self". Or "Wow, didn't realize he was in the city, thought he was still in LA surfing..errr I mean rehabing".

Doug is far from a terrible coach.

QUOTE(#17):

why is he far from terrible?they stunk in the second half last year and it was only cause noah and rose got hurt that they squeaked by them. Now they aren't in the playoff mix......chicago, indy didn't have their best players this year and are top 4 teams in the eastcollins is mediocre at best

The lack of results is more on the front office, IMO. This team was put together to play with a big. With Bynum missing so much time and now Richardson out for the year, Doug has to deal with what he's left with, especially since Vucevic is now in Orlando.

Chi and Indy are definately deeper teams, which again is more on the front office than coach I think. Doug has seemed to get the most out of what he has to work with since coming to Philly and I think he's done an admirable job. Not saying he should be in the discussion with Phil, just that he's far from terrible. Be nice to see what he could do with a team that had a decent front office.
