08:40 AM ET 02.24 | Jerry Reese didn't say much Saturday at a press conference at the NFL scouting combine. But amid the "we're keeping our options open" party line, the Giants general manager was particularly candid about Justin Tuck. Reese admitted that the defensive lineman hasn't been the same star player recently as he was a few years ago. "Justin obviously hasn't played as well as we think he can play and the kind of player he has shown to be in the past," Reese said. "He knows that." The exec says he sat down with the 29-year-old Tuck for "a long conversation" to talk about his struggles. The eighth-year player had 11.5 sacks in 2010 followed by seasons of five and then four sacks. His tackle numbers have also nose-dived. Two years ago, Tuck had 48. This past season he had jut 27. "He really wants to get back to the old Justin Tuck and be the player that we know him to be," Reese said. "Hopefully he can get healthy and have a good offseason and get back to his old form."

Mr. GM it should not take a brain surgeon to tell you that if his numbers are dropping every year, it should tell you that maybe his motor is starting to play out.

He gots his money, no need to make the sacrifices he once did to be a dominant player.

He should just change his name to "Cruise Control".

He had a nice career. Drafted in the fourth round, he has lasted eight years, got two SB Rings and some money in the bank. It is a young mans game.

QUOTE(#4):

... It is a young mans game.

A point that seems to be lost on some teams.

Once they get comfortable they play comfortably. If they're hungry they play like it. It is indeed a young mans game.
