07:25 AM ET 02.25 | Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Desmond Bryant was arrested on a charge of criminal mischief in Miami-Dade County early on Sunday morning, Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com reported. Details on what led to the arrest were not available, but according to the Miami-Dade County Corrections website, Bryant was booked at 9:24 a.m. ET on a criminal mischief charge of over $200 and under $1,000. There is never a good time to be placed under arrest, but Bryant couldn't have picked a worse time to wear state-issued bracelets as he is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins at 4 p.m. ET on March 12. there was a rumor on Twitter that the player arrested was Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, who has a history of off-field issues, including an arrest last July after his mother accused him of assaulting her. No charges were filed in that case, but that incident led to the creation of certain restrictions that Bryant must follow to remain with the Cowboys organization. Bryant (the Cowboy) heard the rumors of his arrest and, as current NFL players do, reacted on his Twitter page. "Ooo (****) false rumors about jail? Lol I was working out at 2 something in the morning in Dallas tx", Bryant wrote.

"I was working out at 2 something in the morning." I was lifting weights at the same time, too. 12 ounce curls in decreasing weight.

I follow Dez on Twitter... and this was pretty comical overall.

Nothing good happens after midnight. Especially to NFL players. These guys need someone to tuck them in at night and read them a story.

The problem of journalism being replaced by blogism. A bunch of people jump to conclusions and a 'news' story is repeated around the world.

Bad news for Des , good news for Dez.

Ridiculous that a grown man, playing a great sport and making millions in the process allows himself to get into these types of situations.

Knuckleheads...

Can't they arrest Dez Bryant just for being Dez Bryant?

No kidding. Just what the heck is "criminal mischief charge of over $200 and under $1,000?" I'm pretty sure I've done it in the past... just don't know what it means.

Oh, I don't know, maybe, just possibly, in order to avoid confusion on who was arrested, the arrest record could have looked like this:
Arrested: Desmond Bryant
Employer: Oakland Raiders
Or, you could even look at the third letter of his first name. It's an "S". It is not a "Z".
The WR for the Cowboys is Dez Bryant. Not Desmond. Not Des. But Dez. See? Different person. Press the easy button just in those commercials, and tell a correct story which is not flawed with vagueness.

The police don't usually deal with nicknames. Dez Bryant's birth certificate says "Desmond Bryant."

The police will sometimes make an exception for guys like Ron "Tater Salad" White.

Glad it wasn't Dez.

Except that Dez Bryant's real name is actually Desmond.

Pretty confusing, really.
