07:53 AM ET 02.25 | As he said in Germany during the Mavericks' preseason European trip, Dirk Nowitzki still plans to sign another contract after his current deal expires after the 2013-14 season. Not that there weren't some antsy moments for him when he was struggling earlier this season. "I had some doubts here when I came back," Nowitzki said. "It took so long. Is it ever going to come back? It was a tough stretch for me coming back from the surgery. But the way I feel now, I still think I can play a couple of years. I've got this year and next year under contract, so I'll be 36 and for sure play a couple of more years." Nowitzki even mentioned the possibility of becoming a 40-year-old role player.

Dirk will resign for a modest 3 year 36 mill deal, something close to that. Cuban and the Mav's probably will need to give Mayo more money. Then Cuban will of course go after Howard, Jefferson, Josh Smith and or Milsap.

Kobe has 3-4 more years in him. I don't think he will walk away as what some Kobe fanatics believe.

Most great players go out looking horribly. Pride and ego won't allow them to leave like Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, or Marvin Hagler.

QUOTE(#4):

Agreed. The guy is still a beast at the top of his game. Both guys are. Keep going and show the young kids how to be professionals.

They'll play until they look like trash, like most great players do.

QUOTE(#5):

Especially w/ the way he changed his game to make his team play better, he has become more efficient which will make him play longer. He is finally figuring out that he could be a facilitator.

Adjustments are made over time.

dirk was a great one but it's approaching time for him to think of life after the mavs. time for the mavs to do the same.

MJ left on top. Then he decide to return like a Wizard. Big mistake.
I think kobe maybe plays one additional year. It will depends a lot on how LA will be playing by end of next season IMO.

Jordan is like the rest. Only Brown, Sanders, and Hagler left and stayed away without looking like trash. Jordan returned and was a shell.
