Expanding national recruiting footprint behind OU's latest hires

08:30 AM ET 02.25 | Judging from his two recent hires, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has clearly made improved recruiting a top priority. Relationship building and commitment closing, though, aren't the only improvements Stoops seeks; Bill Bedenbaugh and Jerry Montgomery each bring recruiting experience in different parts of the country, which should allow Oklahoma to expand its national footprint. That's important as ever these days. Coach Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M's high success in their first SEC season has already made OU's recruiting in the state of Texas even more difficult.

Who was it that said Texas A&M wouldn't do well in the SEC? And that it wouldn't have any impact on Texas recruiting?

TCU and Baylor have had as much impact on Texas recruiting.
Check the history of aTm recruiting; its always been about the same. That's why they had 3 guys on last years team that are top 10 draftees.

case in point...
The TCU Horned Frogs held a Junior Day on Sunday for targeted members of the 2014 class and ended up coming away with a big commitment when Longview (Texas) defensive tackle Zaycoven Henderson decided to end his recruitment in favor of the Frogs.
A consensus three-star prospect considered one of the top defensive tackles in the state of Texas, Henderson is listed at 6-1 and 280 pounds. Considered a top-30 defensive tackle nationally by the 247Sports composite rankings, he held offers from Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
