08:24 AM ET 02.25 | A University of Utah football player has been dismissed from the team after police say he attacked his wife and threatened to kill her in front of their children. Koliniasi Mona Leota, 24, was charged Wednesday with three felonies and four misdemeanors for alleged incidents that occurred Feb. 17 at their Salt Lake apartment. Leota became angry and punched his wife in the head and face, then told her to go into the bathroom to clean up the blood, charges filed in 3rd District Court state. While she was in the bathroom, the 6-foot 4-inch, 278-pound man hit her in the head with a curling iron, then wrapped the iron's cords around his hands and tried to strangle her, the charging documents state. He then allegedly ripped a towel bar from the wall, hit her in the head with it and tried to stab her in the throat with the broken end. Leota also "attempted to fill the bathtub with water to electrocute the victim with the curling iron," a Salt Lake County Jail report states.

These are some serious charges. He could be in big trouble here. My guess is the next team he plays football for will be in the UPFL (Utah Prison Football League).

Not really. the crazy ones go off on their own time schedule. Lawrence Phillips did some pretty gruesome stuff in college and the Rams still went out on a limb and picked him. I think he is still in jail for some type of robbery charge.

Yeah ... Forgot about that Phillips guy. Him and Clarett should be bunkmates at some prison.

What in the hell is going on these days??? The three kids in Tuscaloosa, and not this guy? And there are others out there with issues as well. Is it because they are being brought up in a violent environment and they can't turn it off after practice? Roids???

Good grief. Had a great game as a freshman vs. FSU in the Orange Bowl. Third string tailback and came in to rush very well.

Hey, Dick Vermeil said that was the reason we didn't take Randy Moss. But he did win a Super Bowl as the Rams coach so he must have done something right.

Let's face it. You have to do some really bad stuff as an NFL player to get sent to prison most of the time. Sure there are some cases where they just cannot seem to get off of a charge - Most notably Plaxico Burress who shot himself in the leg with a gun in NY and got sentenced for illegal possession of a gun.
But then you have guys like Leonard Little and Dontae Stallworth who get little more than a slap on the wrist.
How does this apply to this guy's case? If he is a good enough player, he'll get on somewhere else and eventually be in the NFL.

Good lord. Rae Caruth Jr in is this bad boy. If only she had just gotten the guy a beer and did not start 6itching, none of this would have happen.
