Moore has rough day at Combine

04:02 PM ET 02.25 | Defensive end Damontre Moore has been considered by many to be one of the top defensive players in the upcoming NFL Draft, but a poor showing at the NFL Combine could hurt his draft stock. Moore finished with just 13 reps on the bench press, which was a low number for anyone at the combine, but especially for a defensive lineman. And his 4.87 time in the 40-yard dash was in the middle of the pack for players at his position. He pulled up short on his second attempt with what looked like a hamstring injury.

For a defensive lineman? That's pathetic. There are cornerbacks who bench more reps.
This is why they need the scouting combine. Not to elevate the draft status of the "workout warriors", but to identify the pretenders who won't be physically capable of playing at the professional level.

There were so many players that did not show up for the Combine that for once Rich Eisen might be the fastest guy at the combine.

It's a fair point.

Or, he might be physically capable, just lazy - didn't show up prepared for the combine, not in top physical shape. That's a big red flag, too.
