08:11 AM ET 02.26 | On Friday in Phoenix, Celtics coach Doc Rivers offered a glimpse into the team's near future when he chose to rest Kevin Garnett. [Rivers is] clearly putting a premium on ensuring his remaining players are still able to step on the floor when the playoffs roll around. If that comes at the cost of making their playoff path slightly more difficult, Rivers will take the tradeoff. "Listen we're not going to be a 1 seed, we know that, so we just want to be a seed," Rivers said before Friday's game in Phoenix, acknowledging that a road-heavy schedule (18 of Boston's 30 games after the All-Star break are on the road) makes climbing the Eastern Conference playoff ladder all the more difficult.

QUOTE(#1):

Sounds like the wise approach. Keep KG healthy and don't wear him out.

Very wise...but, being a 7 seed and playing Indy or being a 6 and playing the Knicks is much much better than being an 8 and facing the Heat.

Round 1 v the Heat = gone in 5.

It's worked for Doc in the past. Resting his stars for the playoffs has made a good showing for them in the past...

QUOTE(#7):

Perhaps but the Celtics won't beat the Knicks either. And that's saying something because the Knicks suck.

Very true.

Assuming what we see now carries until then, I think Miami and the Pacers play for the East.
