Sixers should shut down Bynum

08:12 AM ET 02.26 | Based on the idea that teams don't surrender before a season is truly over, Philadelphia will soon see Andrew Bynum's long-awaited debut in a Sixers uniform. Fans have been breathlessly awaiting this moment since the Sixers acquired Bynum in August, and members of the media have been waiting for the first appearance of the player general manager Tony DiLeo last week referred to -- still -- as "Plan A." But if Bynum is indeed still Plan A - and I have no doubt that he is -- then, for the benefit of the team, no one needs to see him play this season. The Sixers should shut down Bynum. ... [Bynum] won't make the impact in the 28 games and 51 days remaining in the season he would have made had he been healthy all season.

This is just the weirdest thing...
You trade for the guy, basically giving up making the playoffs in doing so and he is a free agent and there is ZERO guarantee you are going to re-sign him.
Now, if they keep the guy and he improves the team from last season, I get it...but at this point, ugh for a Sixer fan.

They know he can play if healthy. The key word being IF lol. Sixers are stuck right now, a gamble no matter what they choose. 4yr 48Mill is "cheap" I hope we can keep him at that price.

They should play his out of shape self since he is going to be an unrestricted free agent this summer. May make his price tag a lot lower if he is sucking wind the rest of the way.

If he is cleared to play then I think we try to play him a few games showcase his talent then try to re-sign him. If the asking price is too high we may do a sign and trade as a last resort. Somebody else we overpay, if it isn't the Sixers

The risk reward is pretty low for Oden. Cheap price for Oden but no one is expecting much from a guy with his level of damaged knees. With Bynum the risk is higher but the reward is higher. If he is healthy he is the 2nd best center of the league. Sixers will sign him if he is cleared hopefully something below max
