If the last place team offers $200 million and the first-place team offers $10, I'm going to go for the $200-million no matter what team it was." ... I don't think it's necessarily greedy. He is just stating facts. If someone offers me substantially more money - I am taking it. That is more money for my family, period. You only get a couple of shots at free agency, so why would you take less?
It's easy for fans to knock guys who don't take discounts, but 10 million here or 5 million there - it adds up as lost revenue - money that most guys will never get back.

Gotta say...he and Kershaw look pretty good as a No. 1 and No. 2 if this team could make the playoffs.
