08:24 AM ET 02.26 | Speculation has spread lately that Texas' lone quarterback commitment for 2014, Denton Guyer's Jerrod Heard, might consider looking at Texas A&M. Last weekend, after a Guyer basketball playoff game, both Heard and his quarterbacks coach, Lee Vallejo, said Heard's commitment is solid. "I'm not looking around at all," Heard said. "I'm perfectly happy with my commitment to Texas, and I'm not worried about anything else. I'm a Longhorn, and that won't be changing." Vallejo, however, said the Aggies are definitely coming after the 6-foot-2-inch, 190-pound quarterback, who is ranked as the state's 12th overall prospect and its No. 1 quarterback on the American-Statesman's Fabulous 55 for 2014.

Ags have depth at QB thanks to mostly to Sherman. I'm still waiting to see Showers and Matt Davis in a game - those guys are talented. There are 6 young QBs on the roster including a FR Heisman winner.
Heard should look at the Ags roster and calculate his odds for seeing the field. Then look at the TX roster. Ash has no more upside, Brewer hasn't developed and doesn't fit the scheme. Heard would be competing with Overstreet and Swope who have proved nothing to date. Heard will be throwing TD's to Swope in 2015.

I watched the kid at the HS championships. Guyer was a good team as was their QB....but I wouldn't say the QB was any more outstanding than several of the other QBs that were at Jerry's world those three days.

Most everyone I know think Heard is the top guy in the 2014 class. There several good QB's in the finals, but most were in the the 2013 class.

Everything said here is stone cold fact. With the possible exception of the last sentence, which, well...anything could happen that could render that statement something other than stone cold fact.
But, yeah. Fact.

Forgot about him! Can the Ags hang on to all that talent at QB? 2 possibly 3 of those kids could start at other programs.

I would expect something similar to UTx a few years ago. One left last month, I would expect 1-2 more.

I think it will sort itself out. Showers has already transferred, Joeckel is a senior this year and Stewart may end up taking the money and playing baseball if he ends up high enough in the draft.

It seems as though Sherman did a good job recruiting. Obviously it didn't translate to Ws as he got canned. Did he get canned a year before it would have come together?

No. I don't think Sherman would have ever started Manziel or given him the freedom to do some of the things he did.

He left a ton of talent. He also had a lot of talent the year before and found ways to lose. Remember they were a preseason top 10-15 in 2011.
I think last years success was a combo of having the best line in the country, playing teams not accustomed to a dual threat QB and hurry-up O, newness of a different schedule and new coach to liven things up.

I just rechecked to make sure, AP had em 8 and coaches had em 9 in 2011.
Lots of talent there. It will be interesting to see if Sumlin is one that wins with a great base left for him or can sustain after 4-5 years. UM comes to mind.

I liked what Sherman was building at A&M. He went against the grain in the Big 12 with a "pro style" recruiting philosophy. He rebuilt team speed and depth. He left a stocked cupboard.

Aggies coming hard?
So, guys...what are the top 3 places to eat in Texas. I'm on a cross country road trip and unexpectedly went south due to the storm. BBQ is second to none I've heard! Thanks!

BBQ is indeed second to none, but the quality depends on where you are and where you go. I have always preferred the smaller, hole in the wall type places. What part of TX are you headed to?
