08:29 AM ET 02.26 | Alexander Semin may be gone from the nation's capital, but he's not forgotten -- certainly not by former teammate Troy Brouwer. Semin signed with the Carolina Hurricanes last summer after seven seasons with the Caps. "It was tough to lose his scoring ability when he wanted to play," Brouwer said. "But all in all I think we've been doing well without him." Semin's consistency and effort were questioned from the outside but rarely from teammates. ... "Some nights you didn't even know if he was gonna come to the rink," Brouwer said. "It's tough to play alongside guys like those because you don't know what you're gonna get out of 'em." Brouwer only played with Semin for one season.

I spiced up my marriage by blasting Semin in the face.

Don't see the point of Brouwer's comments other than to show that he is a bit classless himself. Okay, Semin had a poor work ethic when you played with him. You talking about it now? Eh. Really don't see the point.

Brouwer blasting semin. I hope not while he's on the ice.

They left out the part where Brouwer said "We're doing great without him." without batting an eyelash. Comical.

"But all in all I think we've been doing well without him."

Those are some really low expectations Troy.

I just shook my head when I read that statement.

Can you imagine how they'd be doing with him? If Alex was close to Troy he'd slap him sooooo hard! :-(

There's no point to a T&R Thread? Shocking. :-)

That brings a smile just thinking about it. Thanks Slap.

Isn't Brouwer the one who spoke out against the players during the lockout?

I'm surprised he wasn't given any "special treatment" by Ovie in the locker room once it was over.

I don't recall him saying anything. I thought that was Roman Hamrlik.

Especially with the Caps record the way it is.

Speaking of records....your team could have used the Mighty Leighton last night. You don't see Staypuff's goal scored in Jr. B.

Worst goal of the season?

This is one of the key reasons why 99% of interviews with athletes are generic cliche-laden jibberish. If their tongue trips over something remotely opinionated, they get blasted from all angles for it.

Wasnt this yesterday's story?

Again, interns????

Bryz is getting tired, but who is going to go in as backup? Boucher is well on the downside of his career and Leighton is hurt. I really wish Snider would hire a real GM and stop putting ex-players in key positions.
