01:52 PM ET 02.26 | The NCAA eased up on recruiting restrictions last month, allowing much more leeway on how coaches and recruiters can contact prospective student athletes. Generally, the NCAA loosening its rules would be seen as a cause for celebration, but many in college football aren't happy about it. The Big Ten coaches and athletic directors have previously voiced their distaste for the change, and now Maryland's Randy Edsall is joining them. Edsall says he hates the new rules, and that many of his colleagues in the ACC share the same view.

NCAA President Mark Emmert = former LSU chancellor.
NCAA VP Donald Remy is a LSU alum.
NCAA VP Jim Isch came to the NCAA from the U of Arkansas.

I'm sure all this looked normal to them.

It's easier to change the rules than it is to risk losing friends by enforcing the rules.
