Petrino impresses recruits

Former Falcons coach Bobby Petrino proved he can still make a good impression in the Atlanta area. Petrino, now coach at Arkansas, spent extensive time over the past two weeks recruiting the top two prospects from Chattahoochee High School, defensive end Justin Smith and safety Elton Ford. Petrino perhaps made his best impression with his reaction to Smith breaking the commitment he made to Arkansas last summer in order to follow coach Houston Nutt to Ole Miss. Nutt resigned in November and was hired by the Rebels in December.

He better impress, he has no backfield. They left for the NFL.

Petrino is a ****...period

I second, third, and fourth that notion, G-Squad.

Run away, kids!! Don't do it!! He'll sell you down the river in a heartbeat. He's more loyal to the ham sandwich that he just ate for lunch than any team he coaches.

Is it true Pertrino is closing on a house in Washington after the 7th game of the regular season?

Jabril,

I heard the deal has already been worked out and papers drawn up, they're just waiting until midseason. If Ark has 5 wins, he's staying. Less than that, he's signing that lease in Washington.

He is going to be there for at least 2 seasons. If he leaves Arkansas it's for another college job because I think the NFL would never ever ever take a chance on him again.

what the heck he decided that the nfl was to much to play in so he down graded himself to the minor leagues isnt that like a demotion

Listening to Petrino is like that old "Subliminal Advertising" skit on Saturday night live ...
PETRINO: I'm staying kid (notonyourlife). Wouldn't go anywhere else (untilafterthefirstgame)....

All the recruits were impressed with Petrino until they realized he'll be gone in 3 years

How can this man impress anyone? I wouldn't send Satin's son to Arkansas to play for Petrino. College is a maturation process as well, not just a football perspective that every one accounts for. How could I raise my son to believe that his word is his bond and then send hime to Arkansas. Wow, not sure I could.

Whether Petrino stays at Arkansas or not, all of this righteous indignation from one of pro football's sleazier franchises (what was the name of that coach they fired about three years ago?) (what kind of disclosure did Petrino get on the Vick situation?), is ridiculous. The Falcons would fire him in an instant in the middle of a game if they so chose; he owed them nothing. However, with the Patriots setting the curve for sleazy, you've still got a ways to go.
