05:22 PM ET 02.26 | Alexander Semin will be making his first trip back to Washington since signing with the Carolina Hurricanes as an unrestricted free agent this past offseason. Originally selected with the No. 13 overall selection in the 2003 NHL Draft, Semin spent the entirety of his career with the Capitals up until this season. With rumors of lack of interest, Semin was a divisive figure. Former teammate Troy Brouwer recently called him out and his current Hurricanes teammates came to his aide. To this point, the members of the Carolina organization have praised Semin???s efforts and are pleased to have him on the team.

Being frank for a bit, Alex is an extremely talented player. He can do amazing things with the puck, including putting big goals in the net. He's tad of a loner. Mostly I suspect because of the language difference in the first several years although it's better now. He mainly associated with Ovie and a few other guys. I think he's a naturally quiet guy. I think it was good (for him) to get out of town and get a fresh start. I wish him well in spite of the fight jokes I make from time to time.
