UFC announces Aldo vs. Pettis in August

07:02 PM ET 02.26 | It didn't take long for UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo to change his tune. The Brazilian had previously said that he had no interest in putting his 145-pound title on the line against contender Anthony Pettis, but UFC president Dana White announced today that the fight is a go and it will take place in August of this year. Aldo and Pettis are two of the sport's most exciting and dynamic strikers, so there are sure to be fireworks whenever the two meet in the octagon. The news already has mixed martial arts fans excited for the bout and many believing that the fight has potential to be a contender for Fight of the Year.

thing is, this SHOULD be a LW fight with no title on the line...this SHOULD be the fight that gives Aldo a LW ranking to set him up for a LW title fight. Since Pettis isn't ranked as a FW, there is NO reason whatsoever that he should be getting a chance at the FW title.
