07:47 AM ET 02.27 | Former head coach and exec Mike Holmgren may have an NFL offer coming his way. The Oakland Raiders have been talking to [Holmgren] about a leadership position within the organization, according to two sources. Holmgren would be a natural candidate because of his relationship with Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie. Both worked for the Packers. For several months, the Raiders have been looking at potential new leaders for the team. They have been talking to Ray Anderson, the NFL's senior vice president of football operations. According to a source, Holmgren has visited the Raiders to talk about the position. Currently, he is on vacation in Europe.

Could be a good hire. Should be better than anyone they currently have.

I'm not so sure about this, He didn't exactly turn Cleveland around in his time there!

Cleveland then Oakland. That's quite a career trajectory, Mike.

He's from the bay area so it kind of makes sense.

Oh great, now Oakland can be the Cleveland of the West. I think Holmgren is one of those guys who has been living off his reputation for a long time.

Yes it does make sense and I applaud Mark Davis if this truly does happen.

Yeah. I see nothing from his time in Cleveland to indicate that he even deserves a job, much less the high-influence kind of position they're talking about here.

Agreed, but, it is Cleveland. I'm not sure who can succeed there these days.

Anywhere but Dallas.

It did sort of seem like he was mailing it in here in Cleveland.

If I remember correctly y'all won your first Super Bowl with some guys from Cleveland.

Amen, brother!!!

Raiders see Holmgren as a miracle, but he hasn't done much good in the last several years.

More like a slowly decending slope...
