Dr. Buss' health made Lakers impatient

07:52 AM ET 02.27 | Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak took the occasion of a Tuesday radio appearance to reflect on the legacy of Dr. Jerry Buss and to look at the franchise. One interesting topic: the move to fire Mike Brown five games into the season, a decision that seemed very knee-jerk and impatient. Kupchak actually agrees with that perception. "The one thing that was a big factor is our lack of patience," Kupchak said. ... "And clearly we knew Dr. Buss was not in great health, and we were hoping for the next year or two we could put something on the court that would result in being in the hunt at the end of the year for a championship. And when we didn't feel we could get there after a preseason and a small number of games, we didn't feel we had the patience to wait and see if it was going to work out."

The past is the past... patience should not be their friend right now. They need play the rest of the season like each game is their last or they won't make the playoffs. I doubt they can make the playoffs... Kobe's attitude and the coaching system are the two reasons that makes them prime candidates to fail.
You can trust if D'Antoni is not fired Howard & Kobe is not amnestied Howard is a goner...

Trading for a broken Howard was #1.
Firing Mike Brown was #2.
Hiring Mike D'Antoni is #3.
Not giving Howard the ball more often is #4.
That sums up the poor Laker decisions right there.
Mike D is going to be fired within 2 years and I PRAY that no NBA team gives him another gig. He is not a good coach.
The Lakers would have been so much better with Brown.

Mike seems like a nice guy and is a terrific defensive coach.
His move to the Princeton offense (particularly with players like Steve 'Pick & Roll' Nash) -- is the oddest coaching move in many years in the NBA.
It rivals Paul Westhead's "no defense" coaching from 20/25 years ago. (his team gave up over 100 points in 1 half once)

No excuses Mitch. You and Jimmy just made really poor coaching decisions. From MB to Dumby.
With Phil available was a no brainer. Now clean this mess for next season.

The rational in bringing Dumby was because they got Nash. Jimmy and Mitch said it few times.
They changed their outlook on MB the day they acquired Nash. I think from the get go they did not plan to hire Phil but they had to consult him because that was the main wish from the fans.
Now it's clear they made a bad choice once again.
Hopefully they will clean this mess moving into next season.

exactly. He couldn't have expected Nash 2 all of a sudden change his entire way of playing @ the age of 39 in a matter of a few preseason games
