LSU's Miles beat Saban to the punch on Moses

08:01 AM ET 02.27 | Think Nick Saban had lost his marbles when he called 14-year-old Dylan Moses and his parents into his office this past weekend to offer a scholarship? [Saban] isn't even the first national championship coach to offer [Moses] a college scholarship before his first day of high school. LSU's Les Miles beat the rush last summer. Dylan had been attending LSU camps in his hometown since he was 10. Things got serious last July. "The offer from LSU was the shocker," the elder Moses said. This probably -- hopefully -- won't be the start of a trend that has college head coaches dispatching assistants to watch Pop Warner games across the nation. Not many kids Dylan's age stand 6-foot-1, weigh 215 and run the 40 in 4.48.

They'll make a rule against it now that Coach Saban has done it.

A scholarship and a spot on the team with the best chances to win an NC when he gets there.

Are you sure Saban will be the HC in 4 years when the kid is old enough to attend?

Are LSU and Bama taking a page out of the USC's book??? Didn't the Trojans offer a 13 year old kid a scholarship a coulpe of years ago and most fans went bananas and was slamming USC for offering a Jr high kid a scholarship??? Is it any different now, just because it's the SEC???? :-)

Why do you say that??? The NCAA didn't make any rules, against USC offering a 13 year old kid a scholarship a few years back!!!! Why would it be any different now???

I dunno, Dr. B-F-G. I think that the chances he is still the coach in 4 years is about 50%. He is the same age as Mack, but seems a lot younger (helped by the fact he dyes his hair, but you gotta admit he seems more full of energy than Mack does).
I think he is going to end up retiring as the Alabama coach. He's getting older and I think he is getting so close to hanging it up, that he probably does not leave to go anywhere else.
Alabama gives him what he wants in facilities. All he has to say is, "XXX school has a better weight room." and we usually start working on it. I think that is the way it is going in college football. You pretty much have to have an update to your facilities every 6 years or so, or you end up being behind.
Of course, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State are the trailblazers for facility upgrades.

Because they tend to make rules based on what Coach Saban does - maybe a little hyperbole, but the bump rule seems to have been implemented because of him and also the rule that restricts HC contact at different times.

Some went bananas. Some gave legitimate serious consideration to is and offered reasoned responses. Obviously, there are some issues with doing this.
It remains to be seen what the detriment, if any, to doing this will be until the recruit actually goes off to college.

I'm still holding out hope that Saban comes to Dallas and fixes the Cowboys. I think he's the only person out there that could get his way in spite of the owner.

I think you're right. And I feel bad for Romo, but I think he's part of the problem, too.

Yeah, but IMO, the NCAA has to step in and put in a rule, that a school can't offer (a serious offer) a kid a scholarship, until he is in his Junior year in High School.

And you don't think that the NCAA tends to make rules for Lane Kiffin or any other college coach??? Do you really think, that the NCAA is picking only on Saban or Miles??
